As a screenwriter, I specialize in psychological thrillers, horror thrillers and romantic dramas. Even when crafting a straight genre story, I pay extra attention to a character's journey, ensuring that the audience feels the effort, the angst and the subtle human comedy of everyday life. My protagonists tend to reject a prescribed mold they've either fallen into or been forced into, and I visually sculpt a world that reflects that surreal, sometimes absurd experience. I'm primarily interested in ambiguity, moral dilemma, the effects of trauma, struggles with masculinity, disassociation and redefining one’s identity. My top influences are Paul Schrader, William Friedkin, Richard Linklater, Sidney Lumet, Karyn Kusama, David O. Russell and Fatih Akin.
In my screenplays you'll notice themes of alcoholism, brotherhood, broken families, lost souls, faith and revenge. Over the years I've written within multiple genre templates, sometimes employing a hybrid model. Some stories are expansive; others are very contained.
